For students facing prolonged or frequent absences due to health, family, or other personal matters, our team provides guidance and support. We can assist students in notifying professors, accessing necessary resources, and understanding VCU’s policies regarding missed classes.
Our office assists students with various academic concerns, including disruptive classroom behavior, conflicts with professors, grading issues, or difficulties with academic advising. We also guide students through appeals and other formal processes, helping them address academic challenges and focus on success at VCU.
Our office provides support to students with complaints about their university experience, whether related to academics, campus services, or interactions within the VCU community. We can help clarify university policies, explore resolution options, and guide students through formal complaint procedures to ensure their concerns are heard and addressed.
We understand that personal relations and family dynamics can impact a student's well-being and academic success. Our office can offer a supportive space, resources, and referrals to help students and families/supporters navigate family or relationship challenges affecting their lives or education.
Students facing financial hardship can receive assistance navigating available resources, including emergency funds and financial aid advocacy.
For students struggling with access to regular and nutritious meals, we provide connections to on-campus and community resources. If you’re experiencing food insecurity, our office can assist with connecting you to resources like the Ram Pantry and other local support services.
Students seeking guidance on off-campus housing options, leases, and tenant rights can consult with us for resources and referrals. We assist students in understanding their rights and responsibilities when moving or living off-campus. If you’re facing housing instability or homelessness, our office can connect you with emergency housing resources, affordable housing options, and support systems.
We are here to help students connect to mental health resources, such as counseling and wellness services, for managing stress, anxiety, or other mental health concerns.
For students who need assistance understanding university policies or navigating procedures such as appeals or complaints, our office can provide clarity and support. We help students learn about their options and guide them through VCU’s systems, including conduct advocacy and Title IX advocacy.
We connect students encountering physical or mental health challenges that impact their studies, such as injury, surgery, hospitalization, or illness, to medical resources on and off-campus and can help identify options for support and accommodations.
For concerns or challenges not listed, our office is here to provide support or help connect you with the appropriate resources. No matter what you’re going through, we encourage you to reach out, and we’ll do our best to assist.
